Koei Tecmo has posted on the PlayStation Blog that their upcoming hardcore action title Nioh will be receiving its second beta demo on August 23.

The previous Beta allowed players to voice their concerns with the series. Koei Tecmo responded with technical changes and tweaks to the game. The demo will be live until September 6.

Additionally, players will be able to chose from katana, spears, axes, and hammers to use as weapons.

Koei Tecmo details the game on the blog:

Nioh follows the tale of William Adams as he travels to Japan and becomes a samurai. Players will discover a deep and enticing world that blends history and Japanese folklore. The tough gameplay pits players against daunting and overpowering creatures, and encourages them to learn their enemies’ tactics to gain the advantage in battle.

The protagonist, William, is not alone against the perilous Yokai, as he will be accompanied by a diverse cast of characters who will aid him on his travels across Japan. Hanzo Hattori, the head of a famous ninja clan, is William’s guide through the country. Ginchiyo Tachibana (wife of Muneshige, the head of the Tachibana clan) will also help William on his quest with her skilled fighting abilities.

Nioh is coming to the PlayStation 4 in 2016.

can’t wait for this to start considering i palyed the other demo to death. One thing kinda puzzels me is why t do the berserk game in the same style cause that would be just awesome with its gore and dark tone.

Doing a DW style game for Berserk is safe marketing for a series that’s spent so long on hiatus. Good way to reintroduce people to the characters and concept, as well as being a fairly cheap game to produce considering how much they can reuse from other DW games. If this game, the Berserk Musuo, and the show/manga do well, we may just see a more ambitious project. We know how much KT likes to reskin stuff after all.

I always found the Dynast warrior series the ugy example of gaming its enviroment are always dull and lifeless and the hack and slash repeptative. seriosuly if they did it dark souls style it would be more on the edge gamplay instead of what we’ll be getting.

I doubt the new anime show is gonna do well with its ugly yet cheap look and non-stop butchering of its source material.

Matter of taste as far as the games. One can’t deny the money they bring in. I havent seen the anime so I can’t comment on that.

I think its more a matter of skill considering the dynasty warrior style is beyond easy and boring while Dark souls you actually need skills to survive something which makes it more deep then a hack and slash.

    • Sylveria Shini

..Again.. Matter of taste. They’re two drastically different genres. Unless you’re in the camp that thinks a game isn’t a “real” game unless its balls-crunchingly hard.

they are only diffrent cause of like i said skill Dynasty warrior games are for exerybody and easier plus cheaper to produce while a Dark souls style game would most likely result in less players cause ppl these days aren’t used to games being hard.

Its true actually i always play all my game on the hardest modes and it gets boring if you play on normal or easy. Also Balls-crunchingly hard isen’t even accurate i played demon souls and dark souls and dark souls is a walk in the park compared to demon souls so i don’t even get why ppl want a easy mode in dark souls.
