Nintendo - Feature Logo

Nintendo has gotten ahead of the E3 buzz and decided to announce their upcoming console today. This new console, code named NX, will be launching worldwide in March 2017.

The release states:

For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed ‘NX’ with a brand-new concept. NX will be launched in March 2017 globally.

Nintendo has also said that the NX will not be making an appearance at the E3, but will give the new console a proper event later this year.

Missing the 2016 holiday period and not showing the NX at E3? Those are some strange business decisions.

    • Lord Ackercocke

Okay maybe I could forgive missing the holiday season but a no show at E3. Not luving that.

    • Landale

They would’ve shown it at E3, but NoA still can’t handle uncut content showing up and so they cut the NX out to appeal.

      Top kek.

    • Panpopo

The end of March is the end of their fiscal year – that is probably their prime motivation of the release date. Also probably not to conflict with the Pokemon games coming out this winter.

    • Mr0303

I honestly wonder how they’ll fill their E3 Direct. Possibly advertise some of the mobile games.

  • Dgnfly

Hope it crashes into the ground, considering nintendo’s track record it won’t be hard for them.

  • Razorfall

It doesn’t matter when they release it next year. It’s still going to be rushed, and it’s still going to be garbage. But I will still buy one, because of Zelda.
