The Witch and the Hundred Knight Revival Edition

NIS America has announced today via a press release that their PS4 remaster, The Witch and the Hundred Knight: Revival Edition, is out today in North America and will be out in Europe on March 3.

This enhanced port of the PS3 title fixes several bugs including a bug that can cause the user’s PS3 to crash, while also enhancing the graphics, adding Metallia as a playable character and adding in a new dungeon titled ‘The Tower of Illusion” for veterans. This package therefore means that RPG fans are getting the definitive version of this title.

Check out the trailer below and a gallery of screenshots for the title.

Think Valkyrie Drive with guys and you're on the right lines.

Wait, what?! I just barely heard of the JP version being out a while ago, and had no idea it was out today. :/

Was this game censored on PS3?

    • Steve Baltimore

They had to change the witch’s name because in Japanese it was really close to Metallica and they we’re afraid the band may come after them. Other than that not that I’m aware of and I reviewed the game for the site.

Thanks, I do own it but I never knew if something got altered, never played it much because the overheat issue. I guess I will sell my PS3 version and get the PS4 version when it comes out in europe.
I kinda understand the name change, music labels can be big assholes sometimes.

That’s what I had heard too. It’s one of the types of censorship I can
accept (even if I don’t like it) since it’s a legal issue, not someones
vague moralistic decision. Same sort of thing happened with the PSP port
of Breath of Fire 3, where an enemy was changed (color swap, attacks
renamed) due to him being a homage/ripoff of Ultraman, and it violated trademarks in EU/NA. (yet he’s uncensored in the original PS1 version)

    • Landale

Short of a name change, nothing that I’m aware of.
The real issue with the PS3 version was the constant crashing that, to my understanding, still has not been fixed. Hopefully no such issue comes up in the PS4 version.

I haven’t got into it much…but I have noticed pretty bad loading times, at least with the initial loading screen.

I played through the PS3 version once, and was on a second play-through before I found out about that bug. I never encountered it, but I put the game away because of it. I heard it could actually hurt the PS3 in some cases, but don’t know if that’s true. Now I finally get to play this again without worrying about it crashing my console.
