The 48th volume of Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko Magazine is releasing new information on the Accel World: Infinite Burst anime which was announced back in October. Not much was shown of the new anime other than a PV, but we now know what format the new anime will be in.

Accel World: Infinite Burst is set to be an anime film. The film will release theatrically in Japan on July 23. The film is set to open in Tokyo’s Shinjuku Piccadilly and 23 other theaters across Japan.

Reki Kawahara, the writer of the Accel World light novels, will write an original story for the film.

Accel World is a light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by HIMA. It is published by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko imprint. It was first published in Dengeki Bunko Magazine in February 2009 and currently has 19 volumes released. The light novel and manga of Accel World have been licensed by Yen Press for release in North America.

The original anime adaptation of Accel World was produced by Sunrise and directed by Masakazu Obara. It ran for 24 episodes from April 6, 2012 to September 21, 2012. It is licensed for release in North America by Viz Media.
