It may come as no surprise that Scott Cawthon’s newest entry in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series, an RPG titled FNaF World, had something of a rough launch. In response to the criticism from fans and reviewers, Scott Cawthon decided to remove the game from Steam. In spite of having a mostly positive review ration on Steam, Cawthon cited his reasoning in a message on Steam as being “not satisfied with the reviews and ratings it was getting”.

The message on the game’s Steam forum went on to further explain the removal and his future plans. He intends to continue development on the game, saying that he will be adding a full 3D overworld and overall making improvements. Cawthon also encourages everyone who purchased the game on Steam to get a refund, even if they enjoyed it, and says that the new version, which will be available on GameJolt, will “always be free”.

The game was initially scheduled for a February release on Steam, but ended up becoming available last week. The game was criticized for its incomplete state, and it ultimately led to an admission from Cawthon that the game had been rushed for an early release before it was fully completed. There is no word on whether the new, re-released version of FNaF World will be available on Steam as well.
