Studio Ghibli has released the first trailer for Only Yesterday, an animated film that was released in 1991 in Japan, but never received a Western release. Now, 25 years later American audiences will be able to enjoy the story of a nostalgic 27 year old women as she recalls memories from her past.

Made by the creators of Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro and written and directed by Isao Takakata with general producer Hayao Miyazaki, this film is sure to please long fans of Studio Ghibli who are eager to complete their dubbed collection.

Only Yesterday will have a theatrical release in 2016.

    I can’t believe that it has been 25 years since this film was forever stuck in Japan and never made its way stateside until this year it will. I’m turning 25 in March but I would rather wait until this movie gets a DVD/Blu-Ray release, same goes to Star Wars: The Force Awakens or whatever that’s called.
