The Danganronpa series will be adding a new anime to its expanding franchise. The new anime will be titled Danganronpa 3: The End of Kibōgamine (Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak Academy) and will conclude the “Hope’s Peak Academy” arc featured in the first game and first anime series. Along with the announcement a trailer was released promoting the anime. You can check out the trailer below.
Seiji Kishi will be directing the anime and Kazutaka Kodaka will supervise production and is in charge of the original scenario concepts. The original character designs are done by Rui Komatsuzaki. The scenario will be handled by Norimitsu Kaihō. The character designs for the anime will be done by Kazuaki Morita and Ryoko Amisaki. The music will be composed by Masafumi Takada. Yoshinori Terisawa is the “Otasuke Producer”. The anime will be produced at Lerche and the Danganronpa Design Team is credited for the original background designs.
The first anime in the series was an adaptation of the PSP/PS Vita game, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. It was streamed in the west by Funimation as it aired in Japan. Funimation has also released the series in DVD and Blu-ray format on November 10, 2015 with both English Subs and an English Dub. The English cast for the anime, except for Makoto Naegi, is different from the original game’s cast.
A new game in the franchise titled New Danganronpa V3: Minna no Koroshiai Shin Gakki is in production. This game will not be set in Hope’s Peak Academy and will feature a new setting and characters. The game is in development for PS4 and PS Vita and is set to release in 2016. Due to the differences in setting, the Danganronpa 3 anime will not be an adaptation of New Danganronpa V3, it will conclude the “Hope’s Peak Academy” arc started in the original game and anime. The new anime is set to premiere sometime in 2016.
