Dragon's Lair The Movie Heading to Kickstarter

When Dragon’s Lair hit the arcades back in 1983, the game was well beloved by many people for its fantastic animation from the legendary Don Bluth and for its interesting take on video games by turning the experience into a movie players interacted with rather than just watch a movie from beginning to end. Since then, the game has been ported multiple times and has gained a big fanbase. Don Bluth and Gary Goldman are teaming up once again to bring Dirk the Daring and Princess Daphne to the big screen and have opened up a Kickstarter page to fund the movie. The pledge goal is at $550,000 to cover the production and promotion costs of the film.

There are plenty of rewards for those who back the project. All backers who pledge at least $25.00 will get access to a blog to stay up to date on the latest updates. Higher tier rewards include a blu-ray copy of the movie, a Dragon’s Lair movie poster, and even an animation class taught by Don Bluth himself. As with any big project, it will take some time for the movie to be produced and released, but with two iconic names behind the project, this project looks to be promising. As of this article, over $30,000.00 has been raised on Kickstarter with 30 days remaining.

Are you happy to see Don Bluth and Gary Goldman team up and create a Kickstarter page to produce a Dragon’s Lair movie? Will you be backing the project? Share us your thoughts and reactions to Dirk the Daring’s next adventure.
