Square Enix, fresh from the new trailer from Tokyo Game Show, have released a boatload of new screenshots from their upcoming title World of Final Fantasy. The game utilizes two distinct art styles: a more traditional, Tetsuya Nomura style seems relegated to cutscenes for the most part, while the other unique, toy-like chibi style seems to be used during regular gameplay, though it is difficult to determine if that is always the case. The cutesy aesthetic gives this game quite a charm about it, and since it’s bringing characters from all across Final Fantasy together, it is certainly a fun, fresh way to do so that keeps it separate from the main franchise.

The trailer revealed a new character, Enna Kros, who guides the two main characters Reynn and Lann into Grymoire, the titular world where this game takes place. Additionally, a number of characters from across the franchise’s history showed up in the trailer, including Cactuar, the Warrior of Light and Princess Sarah, Lightning, and classic summons like Bahamut, Ramuh, and others. Even towns like Cornelia from the original Final Fantasy are bound to make an appearance in World of Final Fantasy. The game is shaping up to be quite the interesting title, so we’ll be sure to keep you updated on new information about it when it becomes available. World of Final Fantasy is set to release sometime in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Vita in Japan.
