According to reports from Box Office Mojo, the limited theatrical run of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ has earned $1,967,626 USD on its opening night. Opening on 894 theaters the film had a per-screen average of $2,198 USD, the highest among the top 10 movies playing the United States on August 4th. If that is not impressive enough the film ranked #6 in overall box office gross for August 4th making the film the 8th highest anime film opening of all time in the United States.

Michael Duboise, Funimation Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, stated, “We are thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive fan response to the movie. We knew the opening would be very good but its performance has exceeded everyone’s expectations.”

Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ will have a limited theatrical run from August 4th to August 12th in over 1,000 theaters in the United States and opened in Canada today.

Akira Toriyama, the original manga creator, is credited with the original concept, screenplay, and character designs of the film, and Dragon Ball Z animation director Tadayoshi Yamamuro returned to direct the film.

Chris Ayres also returned as to play the resurrected Frieza for the English dub. He previously provided the voice of Frieza in Dragon Ball Z Kai.
