Diddy Kong Trademark Rumor

A trademark for Diddy Kong has been filed in Europe with the Office of Harmonization In The Internal Market or OHIM. According to the trademark, Diddy Kong is trademarked for games on various devices such as phones, consoles, and on media such as cds, discs, and tapes. The trademark also covers consumer products such as clothing, accessories, and gaming accessories. Finally, it covers any games made for devices and covers images posted on any medium or format.

Because this trademark happened just before the start of E3, some have speculated there could be a new Diddy Kong video game in the works. Currently, there has not been a new trademark filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the American market. The last Diddy Kong game we received was Diddy Kong Racing DS. Others believe the trademark filing is just a routine to keep Nintendo’s trademarks up to date in Europe to avoid having their trademark expire prematurely. While it seems to likely be a routing filing, we would also welcome a brand new Diddy Kong video game if it is in development.

Do you believe Nintendo was updating its trademarks in Europe? or do you believe there is something in the works? Share us your thoughts below.
