Press Release:

Baltimore, Maryland – March 19, 2015 Acclaimed vocalist Jillian Aversa is pleased to unveil her latest musical tribute to one of gaming’s most beloved franchises: The Legend of Zelda. Both Ocarina of Time’s “Zelda’s Lullaby” and Skyward Sword’s “Ballad of the Goddess” are featured, with a stunning vocal performance in Hylian and a sweeping orchestral arrangement in collaboration with her husband, Andrew Aversa, both of whom share a deep appreciation for the iconic Nintendo franchise.Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword Musical Tribute by Jillian AversaOcarina of Time is my favorite game of all time,” comments Jillian. “I’ve always been fond of ‘Zelda’s Lullaby’ and love that the Skyward Sword main theme (a.k.a. ‘Ballad of the Goddess’) is actually ‘Zelda’s Lullaby’ in reverse, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to play with the two pieces! There isn’t a real Hylian language of course, but I did my best to make the lyrics sound authentic based on all the existing Zelda lore out there.”The arrangement was created for the Video Games Live symphonic concert series where it is performed at stops around the globe. Recorded with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, it can be heard on the recently released Video Games Live: Level 4 album, which is currently available on iTunes:

Jillian Aversa’s ethereal voice can be heard on many game soundtracks such as Halo, Civilization,God of War, Soulcalibur, and Killer Instinct. Her husband, Andrew Aversa, is a composer working in videogames, having scored titles including Soulcalibur V, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and Monkey Island 2: SE. The power couple met and saw their relationship blossom through the prominent game music remixing community at OverClocked ReMix, which is even more significant as community artist and friend Jeremy Waters (a.k.a. Geoffrey Taucer) joins in the tribute with his Link cosplay.

“Filming the music video was an absolute blast,” reflects Jillian. “As usual, I worked with director Landon Donoho, whose vision and talent speaks for itself!  We chose the California Redwoods as our location, and had a ball tromping through the woods in full getup. I can’t tell you how many times we got stopped by passers-by for photo ops!”
Jillian Aversa’s Legend of Zelda tribute has been posted to her YouTube page, where music videos paying homage to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake EaterDestiny, and more can also be found:
