Square Enix has released some new information about two of the playable characters from their forthcoming game, Dragon Quest Heroes: Yamiryuu to Sekaiju no Shiro. Maya from Dragon Quest IV and Terry from Dragon Quest VI are featured in a new series of screenshots and they look fantastic.

Maya

Maya’s fighting style is a combination of her dancing skill and a folding fan. Her element is fire, which she can use to immolate her surroundings. Her most impressive power, however, is the ability to transform into a dragon and rain devastation down from the skies. From the image gallery, it appears that Maya will be a graceful fighter under normal circumstances but fire her up and she’ll get her Smaug on!

Abilities (from source article):

  • Folding Fan Dance – Strikes surrounding enemies with golden folding fans following a beautiful dance.
  • Hurricane Flame Fan – Summons flames in the shape of a dragon that swoops down on surrounding enemies.
  • Puff! – Maya dances, floats high into the sky, then transforms into an actual dragon before burning surrounding enemies to nothing.

Terry

Terry uses a sword and shield, and commands the elements of wind and lightning.  He may appear to be straight-up sword and board, but his intense stare and stormy attitude indicate he is no one to take lightly. He looks entirely capable of bringing the thunder (literally!)

Abilities (from source article):

  • Lightning Bolt Slash – Releases the thunder accumulating in Terry’s sword and brushes away surrounding enemies with a glaring flash.
  • Falcon Slash – Slashes the enemy with at high speed. After the attack, the afterimage created by your high speed movement can continue fighting.
  • Jigo Spark – Using the power accumulated in your sword, unleash your hell thunder and break the earth.

Dragon Quest Heroes:Yamiryuu to Sekaiju no Shiro is scheduled to release in Japan on February 26th, 2015 for the PS4 and PS3. There is no word yet of a Western release, so keep checking back for updates as we learn more.
