Dragon Quest Heroes - Featured

Square-Enix has posted a new promotional video and four new TV spots for their upcoming game, Dragon Quest Heroes: Yamiryu to Sekai Ki no Shiro, which translates roughly into Dragon Quest Heroes: The Darkness Dragon & the Castle of the World Tree, on their official Youtube page. The new title was collaboratively developed by both Square-Enix and Koei-Tecmo’s Omega Force, with Yuji Horii (the creator of the Dragon Quest series) directing the project.

The storyline of the game is one familiar to fans of RPGs. After a long time of peace between man and monster in the kingdom of Elsarze, an unknown force causes the monsters to suddenly grow violent against their former friends. It’s up to the heroes of the story, controlled by the player, to go into the world, discover the cause of the problem and hopefully quell it, thus restoring peace to the land.

As Omega Force is working on this title, one can expect that rather than the turn based fare the audience is used to with the main Dragon Quest series, the game is going to be a more frenetically paced Action RPG. While some may be expecting another Koei-Tecmo Dynasty Warriors style adaptation of an existing property, Ryutaro Ichimura of Square-Enix has stated via Twitter that this is not a Musou/Warriors game.

The new promotional spot is seven minutes long and features the announced cast and the battle and inventory systems.

There is also a new series of 15 second TV spots to sample and enjoy. The first two spots show the voice actors for heroes Akt (Tori Matsuzaka) and Meer (Mirei Kiritani) reacting while playing Dragon Quest Heroes in what has to be one of the most delightfully decorated game rooms of all time.

The last two TV spots are brief dramatic overview of the game’s general theme and tone, and promise what is sure to be another engrossing action experience.

Dragon Quest Heroes: Yamiryu to Sekai Ki no Shiro will be released in Japan on February 26th, 2015 for the Sony PS4 and PS3.
