Bravely Second - Edea Lee

In the latest Famistu, fan favorite and one of the four main characters of the original Bravely Default, Edea Lee, was revealed to be appearing in the sequel, alongside Tiz and Agnes.

With the game taking place 7 years after the previous title, Edea has grown up a bit and sports a new outfit with a whole lot of blue. It was stated that she will become a protagonist and be tied to the newly introduced Barter Sub-Scenario System, where she will judge the opposing Asterisk holders of the previous game.

Bravely Second is set for release in Japan on April 23 of this year for the Nintendo 3DS. No localization announcement has been made as of yet.

my eye candy is back and bit older!

  • Still wish the soundtrack to this game was better.

From what I’ve heard thus far the music will probably be the biggest disappointment in the game.

    • Kroisos

It’s possible you haven’t heard any of the music yet. I don’t know how games work, but for movies the music is the last thing done, and what appears in trailers comes from another source because they have to have something.

    • The demo for Bravely Second is out in Japan….

So unless the music in the demo is just a place holder (which I highly doubt at this point since the game is being released in 2-3 months).

I mean listen to the overworld music at the 11:30 mark. Followed by the battle music at the 11:48 mark. They just don’t mesh or feel right at all.

Also they are re-using some of REVO’s original themes, like the Asterix battle theme… which again completely different in tone from the new music in the game.

So far I have very low expectations coming from the soundtrack.

I actually really like what I’ve heard of Bravely Second’s soundtrack so far. And I typically hate Ryo! But to each his own I guess.

Though I do agree that reusing themes is an awful idea. The first one had a completely different style and the recycled tracks are going to sound so out of place…

    • I just think the overworld theme is horrendous. It does not even feel right next to the battle music. Also although the battle music has a few nice parts, there’s a lot of generic beat fluff going on in it if you find the whole song online.

Basically the soundtrack is all over the place. Which to me is poor sound design.

    • ScienceNonfiction

Well… I dunno. They’re not the best songs in the world, but I do still like them. Maybe it’s just because I knew the soundtrack was being composed by Ryo, so I was fully prepared for it to suck, but was then surprised when I found the songs weren’t downright awful. Maybe.

And I don’t know jack about music, but the battle/world map themes don’t feel out of place with each other at all to me.

Edea and Ringabel definitely broke up the monotony of the typical dialogue most rpgs have. Glad to hear it!
