Super Mario 64 | oprainfall

If there is one thing that constantly impresses and shocks me of late, it is the quality of both indie and fan projects. Kickstarter and crowdfunding has proven quality games can come from relatively unknown quantities, not only getting funded but rewarding that faith with great results. No less impressive at times is the quality of fan games, both remakes and originals. Such is most definitely the case with the Super Mario 64 HD fan remake.

It has been in the works for a while, and it shows in the latest trailer. Environments are rendered in loving detail, showing off the Super Mario 64 world with a delicious new coat of paint. Though it is unlikely such a project will ever get recognized by Nintendo, it’s still worthwhile to pay attention to such endeavors. You never know when groups like this might be the next Way Forward or Yacht Club Games. Chime in with your opinion on fan games in the comment section below!
