I’m sure after our last Story of Seasons article, you were curious what else XSEED has been up to as they worked hard to localize the game. It seems you only have to ask and you will find out! Checking in on them, it seems there working hard to translate the TV shows that are available to watch. The XSEED blog goes into detail, giving us a bit of a taste of some of the shows that will be in the game. (My favorite was “Mighty Munchin’ Veggie Rangers,” which is a sentai type show similar to Power Rangers) In addition to there being leisure type shows like a murder mystery or a relaxing cooking show, there is also a channel that will give you farming tips called “Oak Tree Tips”.

The series itself is known for having either a TV show or a bookcase that gives you tips and tutorials whenever you need them. This will be the first time in the series that there will be so many other types of shows. According to Nick over at XSEED, Over 1/6th of all the text in the game are the TV shows. That definitely gives me a reason to buy a TV in-game!

Are you guys getting excited for Story of Season? Planning to watch all the TV shows or just gonna stick to the weather channel? Planning to pick it up first thing when it’s released this Winter? Let us know in the comments!

I’m a little confused, is this harvest moon? I remember the whole thing a few months back on how some company went bankrupt and now harvest moon as a series will undergo a name change, is this it?

There’s a lot to cover here so I’ll just give the cliff-notes version to an article I did back when both games were revealed.

First things first, I think the company you’re talking about is Neverland, the Rune Factory developer. While Marvelous brought a number of those guys into the fold, it was to work on Forbidden Magna, not this series (although we could probably see a RF5 down the line at some point).

Second, the Bokujō Monogatari series was always worked on in-house by Marvelous/Victor Interactive/Pack-in Video. Natsume was the North American publisher.

Third, while Marvelous/VI/Pack-in Video has always held the IP, they never held the name. That was purely Natsume.

Fourth, since Marvelous finally has a legitimate western localization arm in XSEED Games, they are opting to have them publish the game in North America (Marvelous Europe will probably publish the game in the PAL region after the NA release).

Finally, since Natsume still has the name, they opted to create their own farming simulation game under the same name as the long running series, even though it is technically the first game of a new series.

If you would like to read the long and sometimes confusing history of this, I wrote up a 2000 word article (with admittedly some artistic license in talking about how Marvelous coveted XSEED).

      I see, thanks!
