Shantae and the Pirate's Curse - Logo

Our favorite belly dancing  half-genie is closing in on the release of her next game, Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse. Nintendo of America revealed the release date for the game in their press release for IndieCade, which also revealed the line-up of Nintendo indies–or Nindies, as they called them–that will appear at the show. Pirate’s Curse will be released on North American 3DS consoles on October 23rd.

This is the third game in the series, after the original Shantae on the Game Boy Color and Shantae: Risky’s Revenge on DSiWare (later ported to iOS and updated on Steam as Shantae: Risky’s Revenge – Director’s Cut). In this game, Shantae has to team up with Risky Boots in order to save Sequin Land after her powers were taken from her.

While the game will be available later this month on 3DS, the Wii U version is slated for a release window of Winter. There is also no word on when this will release in Europe. We’ll let you know when that is announced.

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will be at IndieCade this weekend in Culver City, California. The rest of Nintendo’s Nindie line-up includes Affordable Space Adventures, Costume Quest 2, Stealth Inc. 2, Chariot, Swords & Soldiers II, and Beatbuddy for Wii U; Woah Dave! and Xeodrifter for 3DS; and Game of the Year contender Shovel Knight from Yacht Club Games.
