Retro Wrap-Up: Hudson Soft | oprainfall

Another week is behind us, ladies and gentlemen. I’ve been at the helm of the Retro Wrap-Up for a little while now, so it’s high time I made it truly mine by celebrating Hudson Soft. The Adventure Island games are the reason friends and family affectionately referred to me as Master Higgins in my youth, after all. My favorite game in the franchise hasn’t been released on the Virtual Console yet, though. Whether they decide to release the Game Boy version, the NES version, or both…Adventure Island III, I long for thee. Another Hudson Soft franchise I’ve grown up with: Bomberman. And while I’m still waiting for Konami or someone out there to release Bomberman 64 on the Virtual Console…there’s nothing quite like Mega Bomberman for the Sega Genesis (or as it’s known on the TG16/Wii Virtual Console, Bomberman ’94).

In the spirit of nostalgia, or perhaps not being lost in shadows of time, the oprainfall Retro Commercial Research Team—me—brings you a handful of Hudson Soft’s greatest TV moments here in the United States. (And trust me…they’re harder to find than you might think. I don’t think Hudson Soft had much marketing muscle; do you?)
