Game Boy Advance - Virtual Console | oprainfall

So, in case you missed the previous Nintendo Direct, Game Boy Advance games are scheduled to release this April on the Wii U’s Virtual Console. While we’re a bit sad that the 3DS doesn’t seem to be getting the same games as well, we’re happy to see the games finally coming soon.

And with that, we will soon be revealing our Top 10 GBA games we would like to see re-released on the Virtual Console. But not wanting to keep all the democratic fun to ourselves, we want to hear from you as well. That is why, starting today, we are opening a new massive poll to let your voices be heard.

The rules are pretty simple. Nearly all games that are on the system, including all Ambassador Club titles, will be eligible. Only four so far are eliminated: the three games that were announced for launch (Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Metroid: Fusion, and Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3) as well as Astro Boy: Omega Factor (due to the probability that co-publisher Sony Pictures won’t allow a game to go to a rival of Sony Computer Entertainment).

If you have an idea for a game that isn’t on the list and doesn’t have any potential “conflict of interest” issues, list them in the comments below and we’ll add them as soon as possible. Also, if you would prefer not to vote for a series (Mega Man Battle Network) and instead vote for individual games (MMBN1, MMBN2, … MMBN6), let us know in the comments as well. For now, here is our somewhat-alphabetical-but-not-quite-that-way list of Game Boy Advance games.

UPDATE: We’ve already had some good suggestions to add onto the list. Thanks for your feedback. Also, I forgot to mention that you may vote for up to 10 games in this poll (although judging by early returns, most of you have figured that out already).

About Jeff Neuenschwander

Jeff has been a supporter of the website and campaign since the beginning. Joining in for E3 2012, he worked his way up the ranks quickly, making it to the Editing Manager post at the beginning of 2013. Jeff has a wide variety of tastes when it comes to gaming and pretty much likes anything that is quirky, although his favorite genres are Action, Platforming, and RPG. Outside of gaming, Jeff is a musician, being trained as a trombonist for Jazz and Classical music, and holds a degree in Sound Recording.

You guys better start voting on advance wars. I can’t wait for them to make a new one. I hope we hear about a new advance wars at E3

  • Ninty

Where’s Final Fantasy VI? I’d want that one for sure. It’s kind of expensive on places like eBay and I’m sure newcomers would love it for cheaper on the VC.

    • MusubiKazesaru

Agreed, even though I actually own FFVI advance

    • Jeff Neuenschwander

Added, as well as FFIV Advance and FF 1&2: Dawn of Souls.

  • Justin Graham

As much as Boktai and WarioWare: Twisted are great games, both seem problematic for Virtual Console. Less so for WarioWare given that the Wii U Gamepad has a gyroscope in it, but Boktai’s solar sensor is a hardware impossibility on the Virtual Console.

    • RagunaXL

agreed! I bought boktai for a 3 day train trip back when it came out. stuck on a train, in the dark, for three days… and I brought nothing else to play.

  • The only thing I can say is this: If Pokemon does come to the Wii U VC, I want them to find a way to integrate the games into Poketransfer on the 3DS. The 3DS is capable of communicating with the Wii U, right?

  • Vinicius

Voted on CIMA the enemy, mostly because it’s a hidden gem.

  • Joey Williamson

My top picks are definitely Lufia and Advance Wars, though it’d be really nice to see the Pokemon titles on the virtual console, for convenience with the Pokemon Bank and etc.

  • StingFan

Yggdra Union: We’ll Never Fight Alone and Riviera: The Promised Land

    • Lord Ackercocke

They are both on the PSP and those versions are superior to the GBA ones.

    • Jeff Neuenschwander

      Both have been added.

  • James Best

I don’t know which one to pick. There are so many GBA games I missed out on. I can’t choose which one easily. If I had to pick one, I’d say any of the Castlevania games, Aria of Sorrow since it’s the first one.

    • Lord Ackercocke

Circle of Moon was the 1st one on GBA. It had horrible controls.

  • Lord Ackercocke

Where’s Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon? U cannot have a GBA list without this gem.

    • Jeff Neuenschwander

      It’s been added.

    • Lord Ackercocke

The problem is that all these games being now added cannot be re-voted as I and many others have voted already and that sucks.

  • Pedro Rosas

No one cares about Spyro anymore lol

  • DiamondTinCup

Tales, Shining Force, Fire Emblem, and Golden Suns!

    • Lord Ackercocke

Tales not so much for me on GBA but the others get a massive *thumbs up*

  • stealth20k

  • Daryl Ford

I would love to see Pokemon GBA games make it to the list mainly Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. And Mother 3 that’s all I really wanted.

  • James Fox

    No love for Klonoa Heroes?
    Where’s Mr. Driller Ace?

    • Jeff Neuenschwander

  • smacd

I would like Dragon Quest Monsters 3 Caravan Hearts, if we are including unlocalized games like Mother 3 already. Though I would like them localized.

    • Jeff Neuenschwander

  • I love that both GBA Golden Sun titles are on here and so close to the top. That series was a big part of my childhood, and I’d definitely buy them again.

    • Lord Ackercocke

  • Reiswindy

What I would give for another Summon Night Swordcraft Story game….

  • RagunaXL

the moment they teased GBA VC a couple years ago, I thought Golden Sun. FFV is one of my favorites as well. surprised that DemiKids wasn’t very popular on this site.

  • Violetwisp

A lot of these depend on if you could connect with others, either through wifi or locally.

  • Thedude3445

174 votes for Mother 3 essentially means 174 people have voted on this poll so far.

  • Talera Ristain

Golden Sun! You can’t get those for love or money these days. I cherish my copies, but getting them on VC would be great and it would get more people able to play these fantastic RPGs.

  • Kimble

    F-Zero: Climax
    Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
    Game & Watch Gallery 4
    Mario vs. Donkey Kong
    Mega Man Zero 4
    Metroid: Zero Misson
    Pac-Man Pinball Advance
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team
    WarioWare: Twisted!
    Yoshi Topsy-Turvy
