Bethesda has announced that Tango Gameworks’ survival-horror game The Evil Within (led by Shinji Mikami, who brought us titles such as Resident Evil and Dino Crisis), has received a release date for its launch on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. The game will release in North America on August 26 and in Europe on August 29.
This will be Shinji Mikami’s return to the survival-horror genre. The Evil Within is also reintroducing players to a “pure survival horror,” by removing all those bullets that you just happen to find in garbage cans, and by including “highly-crafted environments, horrifying anxiety, and an intricate story.”
With that said, the story introduces you to detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners as they investigate a chain of mass murders. So, in previous survival-horror game fashion, our detective is knocked unconscious and wakes up surrounded by a world of zombies and destruction.
