Watch Dogs - Aiden Pierce | oprainfall

The highly anticipated Watch Dogs has been given a release window between April and June 2014. That’s for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One releases at least. The Wii U version has been delayed.

Yves Guillemot of Ubisoft said “We made the difficult decision to further delay the release of Watch Dogs on Wii U to focus the team’s resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft,”.

In translation, this means they’re going to focus on the systems where most of their audience is, which isn’t Nintendo’s somewhat suffering console. Could be worse though, could be outright canceled.

What do you think of this? If you’re a Wii U owner, are you going to wait for that version or switch to one of many other version? Are you dying in anticipation or want Watch Dogs out already so people will stop talking about it? Let us know in the comments!

I am waiting for the Wii U version as it will be better with the Gamepad. If it is cancelled, which would SUCK, I will end up either not buying it or maybe buying it for PC. I don’t enjoy playing games on PlayStation or Xbox. I do enjoy PC, but want the game much more for Wii U…

Either they will make sure the Wii U version takes advantage of the gamepad OR they are softening the blow for when they announce they canceled it

  • James Best

I’m still holding put for the Wii U version.

Wow ubisoft. The one 3rd party companys that i like because of the fact that they RARELY play favorites when it comes to consoles. If they were to console this game for the wii u…prepare for the backlash that will come with it ubisoft. I will make sure they hear what i have to say if they do. I am getting really tired of this “Wii U is bad” thing. Its really starting to piss me off.

They’re going to cancel it, you watch. They’re going to look at the numbers on Wii U releases and just flip off everyone who owns a Wii U… which is still in the lead of the current gen console war.

Not if you leave out the Japanese market, it’s not, and the PS4 and XOne haven’t launched there yet. I doubt the XOne will do well there, but the PS4 probably will. I REALLY want to play this, and I’m a Wii U-only owner, so I hope you’re wrong.

when this game comes to wii U, I will buy the console. with Monolithsoft’s X coming out soon, hopefully, and Game & Wario already out, I think a game like Watchdogs will give the console some serious value. But Ubisoft delaying it and other 3rd party developers shying away from it altogether it makes it very hard to be ‘one of their customers’ at all. I’ll stick with my 3DS and steer clear of Ubisoft and EA in general. I’m keeping Rayman Origins though.

This is BS. They delayed Rayman for nothing and now this crap?

Well the money we save from Ubi delay, we can invest on more Wii U games. The backlog already started for me with Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, WW HD….only Mario 3D World which i am almost done.

And let not even started with the 3DS libraries of games….**shudder**

And DKCTF is coming in two weeks!!!!

Ehhh… Ugh… I’m so disappointed by this. I mean, I can’t blame them from a business perspective, but just as a gamer (or maybe it’d be more accurate to say Nintendo fan), I really want the Wii U to succeed. It seems like at every turn, though, there’s another blow against its odds of success.

I mean, I’ll spare the details, but how could anyone expect it to compete when it seems like it’s always getting hit by things like this? It’s disheartening.

  • John Ellis

I hope the Wii U version is the superior version then

  • Vinicius

If that means that I can have the map availiable all the time from the gamepad I’m okay with it. Evey sandbox game should have a map avaliable all the time.

  • Currently waiting for the 2nd delay which would be a synonym of cancellation.

Hey, it all comes down to Nintendo boosting the Wii U’s installed base. Look how well the 3DS is doing these days.
