Conception II

ATLUS has officially announced that they are releasing Conception II in Europe. However, the game will be released only as a digital download through the 3DS eShop or PlayStation Network.

While it’s great that another region will get the chance to play this, unfortunately this means our European friends will be missing out on some cool pre-order bonuses. But hey, a digital-only game is better than no game at all.

Conception II is slated to be released in PAL regions during Q2 of 2014, while the North American release has a more specific release date of April 15th. Much information has come out about the game, including character bios and images, as well a trailer, which you can see below.

Going to be honest, I’m not sure if I’m more excited by the fact that we’re getting the game, or by the fact that Atlus are publishing it themselves.

Hopefully this is a trend that continues, so we get more Atlus games closer to the North American release. Still waiting for SMTIV and EO Untold!

I’d have preferred them to leave it to other European publishers, honestly. I’m not a fan of digital-only releases, especially if their main region does have a physical one. If Atlus can’t offer the bare minimum that other publishers do (including NISA, that it’s smaller and always distributes physical copies of their games in Europe) then it’s better they don’t even try. I don’t mind waiting some time, as long as I know I can buy it physically from my country.

I completely disagree with you there. I’d rather get it sooner, and I want this trend to continue so we can consistently get Atlus titles sooner. I have no problems with a digital-only release; I actually want to move to having my entire game library (and other things) in digital form. So I am absolutely fine with this.

Different strokes for different folks, I’d say.
I’m kind of a fetishist for physical copies XD That’s why most digital-only releases tend to demolish my enthusiasm for a game. Especially those I was really looking forward to like this one. Keep in mind that I was really confident of the fact that NISA was going to publish it in Europe, like they did for most Atlus games last year. That’s another reason why I’m so disappointed right now.

Different strokes indeed! My reasoning largely has to do with the fact that I’m currently studying Conservation Biology; I want to consume as little as possible so as much is possible is left untouched.

I still feel there are few issues that need to be addressed before I’m totally comfortable making the leap to total digital (largely to do with Nintendo; they just tied multiple eShop accounts to on Miiverse account, but I’m not sure if this is as good Sony’s system yet), but I definitely want to start.
