Nintendo’s Q3 2013 investor’s briefing has offered plenty of insights…many of which we’ll bring to the forefront once it’s all done and it’s been properly translated. These briefings are always fun—they answer important questions like when we can expect “X,” and they may even offer a surprise twist or two. Chief among said surprise twists—a piece of news we’re sure you’d like to know about before the translating and further speculating even begins: Nintendo DS games are coming to the Wii U Virtual Console.

Virtual Console | Nintendo DS Comes to Wii U

There’s a shot from the presentation itself, of Brain Age. I’m sure there’s an entire library of Nintendo DS games worth tapping into. New opportunities for the Virtual Console can only mean good things…right? Again, news from the Q3 2013 investor’s briefing is still coming out in droves. I wonder if a Nintendo Direct is around the corner or not…then again, I’m probably not alone.

Which Nintendo DS games would you like to see playable on Wii U? Be sure to let us know. More from the briefing as it happens.

I want to see the following possible for Wii U DS VC
    – Meteos (with modification for online play) [If Capcom can do it, so can everyone else]
    – Elite Beat Agents
    – Clubhouse Games
    – Puyo Pop Fever
    – Retro Game Challenge (so maybe XSEED can change their bloody mind)

  • Marley Ferreira-Malyon

I REALLY hope that this means DS games on VC for 3ds as well

    • Nicholas Patrick

It’s backwards compatible with DS anyway, by the way they announced GBA and N64 games over a year ago and they have yet to show up. Still, it’ll be cool to have more Castlevania games!!!

    • Guy Rainey

If you remember this: http://operationrainfall.com/advance-wars-ds-japan-club-nintendo/ , it’s perfectly possible to distribute DS games digitally on 3DS. I see no reason why they couldn’t. I’m also not sure why they aren’t doing it now.

It looks like the Gamepad will act as the two screens combined based on that picture. In other words, the top screen and bottom screen images for DS games will be displayed on one screen.

    • Guy Rainey

I’m concerned how that will work in practice. Brain Age works fine because the DS was handled like a book. I’m not sure how well both screens will fit on the GamePad

Still want to see some hardware to play 3DS and DS on Wii U, but this is a start.

  • Lord Ackercocke

    I want all the rpg’s

  • Matt

    Ghost Trick and Contact, please.

  • Forbsz

    Pokemonz

  • Oscar Tong

Here are some of the games I’m hoping will make it.

    – The Mega Man Star Force games
    – The WarioWare games
    Phantasy Star 0
    Mega Man Battle Network 5
    Trace Memory
    Hotel Dusk: Room 215
    The World Ends With You
    Shantae: Risky’s Revenge

    • Charlotte Buckingham

TWEWY for sure. I’m also hoping Etrian Odyssey and Radiant Historia make it.

  • James Best

And yet they still haven’t put GBA, N64, or GameCube games up.
