 Exstetra

Exstetra, developed and published by FuRyu, is a newly released JRPG for the PS Vita and 3DS. In the game, you can kiss other members of your party to give them more power. There’s even a special mini-game that involves kissing, and it is used to get the most out of the affair.

It has been kept pretty secretly, but yes, the kissing does work on the guys too. Not long after its release in Japan, there were photos being posted all over the Internet confirming that you can indeed “show the love” to the guys on your team, as well. To add even more reward to this mechanic, in the PS Vita version, you will also get a trophy for kissing a party member fifty times and for scoring an “ultimate” kiss with them. You can see some of the screenshots below:

About Dalton McClain

A gamer at heart, and a creator by trade. As a shy kid who grew up in a small town, my only solace was with the games that I enjoyed playing. That being said I enjoy just about every type of game, but more than anything I love playing horror/unique games. I look forward to sharing my knowledge of the strange and unusual with the world.

I’m glad they did not cop out with the guy kisses. It worried me for a bit when they were never shown in the trailers.

Isn’t it kind of a cop-out in the opposite direction that the characters have no actual preference and just make-out for fan service and to be all inclusive? It’d be better writing if some characters would and some would not. Not everyone is straight: true. But not everyone is gay either. This just sounds like devs placating those frothed-up-drunk-on-their-own-moral-outrage internet arguments rather than decent, or even relevant, writing.

  • Oh god. If the achievement hunter boards for Bully are any indication, homophobic assholes are going to freak the hell out about this.

  • Kyle Emch

Perhaps I’m mistaken, but I thought that Japan was mostly homophobic.

  • Ashitaka

Oh look, more otherwise-intelligent people using the word “homophobic.” *sigh*

But… But are there lesbian kisses?
