Ladies and gentlemen, let me take you back a little ways. The day before the January 23rd Nintendo Direct (you know, the one that featured the “X” announcement), Soraya Saga retweeted Nintendo of Japan’s post promoting the presentation. Everyone behind the scenes at oprainfall thought, “No way. Could a new game from Monolith Soft be possible?” Our proverbial hype-meter skyrocketed to 11, and lo and behold—Iwata delivered.

Soraya Saga

It’s happened again, folks. And given that the Nintendo Direct announced for 6/11/13 is the “Almighty E3 Direct” that everyone’s been waiting for, I can bet that history will repeat itself. Will we see more amazing footage from “X”? Will Nintendo drop an even bigger bomb and…confirm an HD re-release of Xenoblade for Wii U?

… I hear some of your thoughts coming to a screeching halt. Here’s something from earlier that should illuminate:

It seems that Best Buy and Walmart are both listing Xenoblade for the Wii U, pre-order and everything. Though I must stress that this is most likely an error, due in part to someone not understanding the difference between Xenoblade and Monolith’s new recently revealed title for the Wii U simply called “X”…

…there is a -slight- chance of it being an HD Remake for Xenoblade. Not much, but the possibility is there.

I’ll be among the handful of oprainfall Staff headed to E3, which, by the way, starts hours after that Nintendo Direct is scheduled to air. But… you can bet I’ll be up at 7AM that morning, ready to give you all my usual Nintendo Direct Recap. We have plenty of awesome stuff planned for E3 that we’ll start rolling out soon enough. Are you guys hyped? I know we are.

Only a few more weeks to go! Until then, here’s a look at a trailer so many of us have come to love.

  • Ryan_oprainfall

I want a trailer, a name, and a release window.

    • I want it to be playable at E3/Best Buy. Even if I weren’t LA bound, I think that’d be the one thing that makes me run off to Nintendo’s “retail partner”. 🙂

    • Ryan_oprainfall

You’ll find me at BestBuy if this is the case. Assuming this applies to a Best Buy close to me in Phoenix

    • InfernalDinosaur

how cool would it be if release was like spring next year? this year seems doubtful, but the team probably was working on X since xenoblade released a few years back. that’s plenty of time to have a game that’s close to being completed. crossing my fingers for some good news! the closer the release date, the sooner i buy a wii u. 🙂

  • MusubiKazesaru

seriously every time I hear that music I get chills. The game looks amazing and from what it looks like, the game almost seems like an MMORPG of sorts

I’m up for an HD PORT of Xenoblade since I missed out the first time. Highly doubt it’d be a remake, so a port would be just fine. Doubt it’ll be announced at the Direct, personally I’m hoping to see Monolith Soft’s 3DS project in addition to more of their Wii U project.

    • InfernalDinosaur

Dolphin is your friend. That is if you have the PC for it.

  • Thedude3445

Woah, HD remake of Xenoblade? No thanks, it’s fine as a Wii Title. I want this to be an entirely new game! Now, an HD Remake of the Xenosaga games, on the other hand….

    • I’m not suggesting “X” is Xenoblade Remastered. I’m thinking they might make us all dance and give us BOTH. “Xenoblade HD” to quell the out-of-printness of the Wii game this fall and set up the sequel, and “X(enoblade 2)” sometime during the summer of 2014 or so. A man can dream~.

    • Yeah, an HD collection of the Xenosaga would be really nice. But Namco has rights on the Xenosaga.

  • I just plain do not need a remake or HD port or whatever of a game that is already beautiful.

    • I agree, but it might make it more affordable for some people to play the game in the first place, given the short print run they had for the original.

  • How many times have I watched that trailer now? I can’t even count. It’s just so darn beautiful.

  • I’d like to comment on how the project’s title at the moment is “X”. And not something like.. I dunno, “Xeno”?
