It’s here! It’s here! It’s fina-lully here! After several years of being denied, Nintendo is finally releasing Earthbound on the Virtual Console in North America and Europe. In honor of this, the Operation Rainfall Retro Commercial Research Team (in other words, me) shall present to you commercials for Earthbound in this week’s Retro Wrap-Up…

…is what I would be saying, if Nintendo of America had bothered to make any commercials, aside from this one. So instead, here are the commercials from all three Mother games in this week’s Foreign Wrap-Up.

Here are the highlights from this week.

Ganbarion, the makers of Pandora’s Tower, are thinking about what they could do for the Wii U.

Capcom is going to be making lots more DLC and will cancel some of its in-progress titles. Be very afraid.

Josh Speer talks about Demon’s Crest in this week’s OpRainfall Origins.

Nintendo of America disclosed the digital sales for Fire Emblem: Awakening, which look pretty good.

David Fernandes reviews Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, Oscar Tong reviews From Up On Poppy Hill, Jonathan Higgins reviews the Fire Emblem: Awakening – Knights of Iris art book and Daniel Gulyas reviews Chu Chu Rocket in this week’s Games of the Past review.

Liberation Maiden is getting a sequel for the PS3 in the form of a visual novel. Yep.

Justin Graham takes a look at Venus Wars in this week’s Anime of the Past review.

Shin Megami Tensei IV is getting a couple more pre-order costumes thanks to Amazon Canada and EB Games Canada.

There was a rumor going around that Majora’s Mask was getting the remake treatment for the 3DS, ala Ocarina of Time. That rumor has been busted…sort of.

There was apparently going to be a Mega Man X shooter made by some of the guys behind Metroid Prime. Emphasis on the word “was”.

The future of the .hack franchise depends on the success of mobile game Guilty Dragon, because of reasons.

Finally, here’s a summary of all the Nintendo Direct announcements for this week.

About Kyle Emch

Kyle has been studying music at college for about three years now. He's played the piano since he was 6 years old and has been recently been learning how to write music. He has followed the Operation Rainfall movement on Facebook since it started and was happy to volunteer for the website. Just don't mention Earthbound or the Mother franchise around him.

  • “What’s going on, brother?” “I don’t know.” “What should we do?” “Sing too.” Sounds like a plan, bro!

  • Guaranteed Masterpiece.

    “It’s here! It’s here! it’s fina-lully here!”

Nice Homestar Runner reference. “That was the happiest I’ve ever been.”
