Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance VR Mode

With only two weeks away from launch, Konami continues to bring forth new announcements for the up and coming spin off title Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance from the esteemed Metal Gear franchise. Switching stealth for hack-and-slash goodness brought to us by the fine folks at Platinum Games; renowned for their amazing offerings for the action genre with such titles as Bayonetta, Vanquish, Mad World, and their most recent title, Anarchy Reigns.

With so many trailers released and a demo now out to tease what is in store for us all, what could possibly be left to tell? Well DLC of course! In the recent post on US Playstation blog from Dalton Link, social media manager at Konami, it was announced that Konami will be releasing additional content for the game, in this case, for the VR/Virtual Reality mode; Something Metal Gear fan will be most familiar with. Lucky PlayStation 3 users will be able to access 30 all-new exclusive missions which is described by Dalton as:

“Featuring a mix of combat training, tactical maneuvering, stealth-based approaches and more, these missions will both provide practice in which to hone your skills in original stages not seen the in the game’s campaign, and feature an eclectic mix of challenges that any veteran of METAL GEAR SOLID 2: Substance or METAL GEAR SOLID: VR Missions would come to expect. And, in an interesting twist, you’ll be able to take control of the much loved/hated Dwarf Gekko in the VR Missions.”

To clear up any misconception that is going on, the VR mode, was and always have been planned in the game from the start. These are 30 -additional- missions for the mode, not the mode itself. Just wanted to clear that up. Whether this is a timed-exclusive for the PlayStation 3 or that Xbox 360 users are out of luck, remains to be seen. Check out the link above, to see the  rest of the screenshots depicting the VR mode.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be released in North America on February 19th, it will be available on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
