Mega Man fans rejoice! PlayStation Plus members will be receiving Mega Man 9 and 10 for free this month. Plus members will be able to download the games on January 8, 2013 whenever the PSN store updates, which lately has been later in the evening for those of us on the East Coast.

Mega Man

The original Mega Man is a 2D platform game that Capcom entertained everyone with, back in the day. This release of Mega Man 9 and 10 is the updated version that still keeps its 8-bit roots.  Included in the game are all new levels, weapons and bosses. Sounds fun, right? To top it all off the games will be FREE to Sony PlayStation Plus members. With this latest game being offered up, my membership to PSN Plus continues to pay for itself.

Also available this month on PlayStation Plus is beta testing for God of War: Ascension. The PlayStation blog site has said this about the game.

PlayStation Plus members get to be one of the first to delve in to what’s sure to be one of the most epic multiplayer experiences of the year. God of War: Ascension’s Multiplayer beta is offering up the signature Team Favor of the Gods mode and the yet-to-be-seen Favor of the Gods mode. In both modes, you’ll fight to reach the requisite number of favor points from the Gods, earning points via kills, bonus brutal kills, opening chests, capturing domination points and, if you’re skillful enough, performing executions using the Spear of Olympus.

Sounds interesting, if your into God of War.

As for Mega Man, while many gamers grew up with the Mega Man series, this will be one of my first experiences with the games. I have had a couple of moments here and there of trying the game out, but other than that I am a Mega Man noob. Have no worries though, generally I pick up platform games fairly easy. Since this is giving me a chance to play a very well received game, in a genre that I enjoy, I am excited. It’s a welcome opportunity for me to expand my horizons. In addition to my own excitement, I also want to hear about your Mega Man experiences. Let me know in the comments below when you began to play Mega Man and what your experience with the series has been like. Are you new to the series? If so, will you use this offer to catch up on something that other gamers have been enjoying for years? As I already said, I am looking forward to starting my Mega Man experience. Let me know what I am in for!
