Xbox 720

It has been reported that insiders at Microsoft have stated that the successor to Microsoft’s Xbox 360, dubbed the “Xbox 720”, will be out by the holiday season of next year. In time for Thanksgiving and Christmas, apparently.

Additionally, Microsoft is still unsure as to whether or nor t showcase the console at E3 next year, or whether they should do so at a private event.

This announcement comes as Xbox 360 system sale numbers are declining, the report continues.

Microsoft have declined to comment on the leak.

It’s about time for MS since the 360 is already out on the
market for 7 years, by the time the new console roll out, it will be 8 years
    since it was released.

What worry me was the earlier report of not been able to
play used game, tied to the account (a la Steam), force online, etc.

Heck there was even rumor that the console forego disc and
rely only on online. The same rumor apply to Sony Orbis too.

If any of those rumor turn out to be true, you can count me
from ever buying it. I am not a big fan of online DRM measure, dislike that
feature in Diablo 3. If I have to eventually go fully digital, Steam is the
    best option.

In any case, I can content playing the current generation
and even older console, as there is simply hundreds of great games out there.

  • Why wouldn’t Microsoft show off their new console at E3?

  • In other news, there is a gaming industry! More at 11!

Is anybody surprised at this? I’d say it’s a near certainty, if for no other reason than that developers are getting ticked off at them, and that’s a segment you really can’t afford to lose.

  • There seems to be contradicting rumors appearing all over the place now. While this does seem plausible, I still take this as a random prediction.

Also, “whether or nor t showcase”.
