Square Enix have been holding auditions for the last couple of weeks in order to find a new female vocalist. Initially starting out with 200 applicants, the judges have now limited it down to just 12 fated semi-finalists which have been posted on their official site. There, or on Square Enix’s YouTube channel, you can listen to each vocalist sing their own version of the song Someday from The World Ends With You and share your opinions on who you think is the best. Square Enix will be taking the fans’ input into consideration when choosing the two finalists who will be performing at a live concert at the O-West concert hall in Shibuya. This contest is most certainly relevant for someone who doesn’t live in Japan as well, as the winner will be given the chance to participate in the recording of the soundtrack for an upcoming mystery game together with TWEWY music producer Takeharu Ishimoto. As for what this game may be, I’ll leave the speculation up to you. As Sho Minamimoto would say: Do the math.

Personally I think Entry No.5, Raika, is the most impressive singer of the bunch. Apart from having a nice voice, she adds her own quirky flavour to the song which makes it unique and refreshing. Her style would certainly fit an eventual new TWEWY game.

What about you yoctograms? Which vocalist is your favourite?
