Note that the logos for both this and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate are the same. Honestly, now that I think about it, the “3” in Ultimate‘s title should have been a giveaway.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate has just been confirmed for the Wii U and 3DS! This game is a HD port of Monster Hunter 3G, which came out in Japan last year.

Both Cha-cha and Kayanpa will be returning! Additionally, in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate you will be able to chat to your friends in the same way you were able to in Monster Hunter Tri.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate supports online play, so you can go hunting with your friends from across the globe. Online play is for the Wii U version only; the 3DS version of this game does not support Wi-Fi.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate can connect wirelessly with Japanese copies of Monster Hunter 3G for 3DS. They can transfer save data back and forth between the Wii U and 3DS; so they can transfer Wii U data to their 3DS and play it on the go, then put it back on their Wii U and continue playing from there as they see fit.

Japanese gamers can also get a special Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate bundle when the Wii U comes out there on December 8th. It will go for ¥38850, which is around 500 $USD.

The game will be out in the West March 2013; only half a year from now!

More information coming soon!

  • Thank you based Nintendo and Capcom.

Not all is forgiven, Capcom, but you done good, kid.

  • This should make the Monster Hunter fans happy.

  • This and Bayonetta 2 have sealed the deal for me! I gotta have a Wii U at launch!

  • Crossplay between Wii U and 3DS?  Aw, heck yeah!

  • Actually, I think Nintendo should try to promote the crossplay feature…

Basically it would be like this.  You play the 3DS version on the go and upgrade your character, then when you get home you can play with the same data online for the WiiU version, and you won’t get behind.
Now if Nintendo would offer some kind of incentive to buy both versions.  (discount?)

    • or some kind of special package that has both versions.

Never played monsterhunter so this will be great.
