SUPPORT OPRAINFALL BY TURNING OFF ADBLOCK

Ads support the website by covering server and domain costs. We're just a group of gamers here, like you, doing what we love to do: playing video games and bringing y'all niche goodness. So, if you like what we do and want to help us out, make an exception by turning off AdBlock for our website. In return, we promise to keep intrusive ads, such as pop-ups, off oprainfall. Thanks, everyone!

Do you have passion for niche games?

Do you obsess over details?

Do you have a solid grasp of the English language?

Is passion alone enough to motivate you to do your very best work?

If you answered “yes” to all of the questions above, the Operation Rainfall web team is looking for talented people to join our staff, and you may be just the person we are looking for! At the moment, all of our staff members are unpaid volunteers.

Specifically, we are looking for three different skill sets, although a combination of skills would be preferred.

Writer (News, Reviews, and Editorials)

Operation Rainfall has become a premier source for news and exclusive information regarding the hottest niche games and RPGs. With over 12,000 followers on Facebook, 3,000 on Twitter, and nearly 50,000 unique visitors every month, we have an established audience that is ready and waiting to read what you have to say. Do you have an opinion that needs to be heard? Do you revel in the thought that your opinion will be read by thousands and could possibly even influence people’s buying decisions? Are you always on top of the latest social media sites to catch the latest news straight from the developers and publishers themselves? If so, then you would love to join our staff as a writer.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Age: 16 years old (18 for M-rated games and event coverage)
  • Mastery of the English language. The ideal candidate should have a solid grasp of spelling, grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation.
  • Your writing does not need to be outlandish or colorful, but this does help keep readers interested.
  • Ability to paraphrase and make material your own. We will not tolerate plagiarism.
  • Ability to do your own research using freely available tools, and cite your sources in all articles.

Editor (News, Reviews, and Editorials)

While the specific focus of our writers is writing and citing sources, our Editor team is responsible for reviewing all content before it is published on our website. Some of the things our editing team is responsible for include proofreading and correcting spelling and grammatical errors, improving the flow of sentences, checking source material for accuracy, and verifying questionable statements.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Age: 16 years old (18 for M-rated games and event coverage)
  • Mastery of the English language. The ideal candidate should have a solid grasp of spelling, grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation.

  • Minimum Age: 18 years old
  • Hands-on experience with PHP, CSS 2.1, HTML 4.1, JavaScript, WordPress, and MySQL.
  • CSS3, HTML5, and graphic design are a huge plus.
  • Excellent English writing skills; you may be asked to assist our writing and editing teams if needed.

If you’ve written editorials or user reviews, please submit URLs, or if your article was published in a print publication, please scan and send your article as an attachment. If you are applying for a position as web developer/designer, please submit a list of URLs leading to your most recent work, along with something to identify your role in the creation of the website.

  • I’d love to apply to be an editor, but I dont turn 16 until July. Hopefully I’ll still be able to apply then.

    • Certainly. Though, we start off all of our editors as writers. Once they prove themselves capable, they then are promoted to editor.
