This week is the final week for Xenoblade  on the USA VGChartz Pre-order Chart. Xenoblade Chronicles gets an additional 18,798 pre-orders from last week, bringing the final total number of pre-orders in the US to 187, 091. We do not know if these numbers include ShopNintendo or not, nor do we know what the pre-orders look like in Canada but we expect them to be high.

I would say 187k for a limited release game is quite respectable and hopefully goes a long way in proving to Nintendo that JRPGs can be profitable in the Americas. If you have not yet pre-ordered the game, it is not too late! Xenoblade releases April 5th in Canada, and April 6th in the US.

Does this include sales directly from Nintendo or is this just Gamestop’s number?

    • RyanOPR

It’s hard to say because VGChartz does not share where it gets its info. If I had to guess, I would say just Gamestop, but cannot say for sure.

    • ZanetheWise

I hope so. Granted, a many more gamers will purchase from Gamestop than Nintendo’s online store, but if the total preorders are even 10% higher than vgcharts indicates then we’ll have a good shot at doubling the game’s total sales before the year is out, which would be a strong argument for bringing future  niche titles to the west… that or Reggie will start pulling a regular “you can’t have it” marketing campaign for those titles. Le sigh…

    • RyanOPR

The fact the Nintendo is bringing both Xenoblade and TLS to the Americas are a good sign that perhaps that mentality is changing.

    • AndCarlsen

Nintendo shouldn’t really be thanked for anything. If it weren’t by XSeed and all the campaign to bring those games to the west we might not have gotten them.

Cool. I already pre-orderd mine last friday I think….ah anyway I would like to thank operation rainfall for these great games (even if not directly convincing nintendo to ship’em, it sure did help.) And hopefully many other games to come. So thanks and cheers!

Its always nice to hear that a whole bunch of people are getting the game and that you’re not the only who won’t have a life on April 6th

    •  LOL I agree!

    •  Lol i scheduled my week of vacation from work starting the day of the release. XD

    • haha very cool! I have to work all weekend 🙁 hmm wonder if i can get out of Easter with the family so I can stay home and play! HAHA doubtful!

  • almost 200,000 preorders. that’s not bad

  • SilentComedy

Those are awesome numbers.  I’m reminded of when Catherine sold 200k in its first week and Atlus USA considered it a huge success for such an odd title from Japan.  It would be great to see Nintendo express similar sentiments for Xenoblade.

    • Yeah great numbers for it being limited to certain places.

  • This is great news.  If these are even close to the real numbers, then passing 200k shouldn’t be a problem.

No school friday so right when gamestop opens ill be getting it!:)

  • John Ellis

Wow the pre-order number is higher than the number sold in Europe

  • AndCarlsen

I don’t know what is good and what isn’t, but almost 200k preorders seems to be great. I haven’t preordered it because I don’t live on the US or in Canada, but I would certainly do it if I had the option.
