This week on the USA VGChartz Pre-order Chart, Xenoblade Chronicles gets an additional 10,294 pre-orders from last week, bringing the total number of pre-orders in the US to 158, 455. With two weeks left on the charts, we could see the numbers rise to over 180,000. Not bad for a title that Nintendo of America didn’t seem to want to bring over to this region, and likely wouldn’t have if not for the outcry from fans of the genre.

  • Awesome Xenoblade is doing really well here so far. This is a victory for fans of the genre.

Thank goodness! Now maybe NOA will take the sticks out of their butts!

  • And Nintendo of America wanted this game kept out of the NTSC region! tsk tsk tsk

Hey, that puts us on par with the other two regions from day one. That’s pretty exciting! I know VGChartz does some guesstimation, but if we start out anywhere near that level, I think Nintendo will be making a tidy profit.

One question, does this include preorders directly through Nintendo, or is it Gamestop’s numbers only? I wasn’t aware that Nintendo made those sorts of numbers public. I’m sure many more people ordered through Gamestop than Nintendo anyway, but it would be heartening to know that there are even more people buying than we have numbers for.

I also think that IGN’s “Biggest Games of Spring” article, which puts Xenoblade as one of the first few entries, might help out the cause. Sure, pretty much every regular reader on IGN is aware of Xenoblade and OpRainfall, but that’s exactly the sort of article that someone only tangentially interested in gaming might click on to read, whether looking for something new to play themselves or for a gift for a gamer. Hopefully we see another 18k bump next week like we did last week.

    Keep up the good work!

I think this number is going to swell up a huge amount in the last weeks before the game is released. People usually preorder a week or two before the game comes out so that right there should be a huge boost.
