Yesterday, Satoshi Sakai, the producer of Phantasy Star Online 2, came bearing exciting news regarding the PlayStation Vita iteration. As a reminder, Phantasy Star Online 2 for the PlayStation Vita has yet to be announced outside of Japan, although the PC version will be available later in the year.
Sakai started off by discussing a few “Vita-Specific” updates releasing this month that will add button layout customization, enhanced in-game screenshot features, and several intuitive chat enhancements with ease-of-use in mind. Nearing the end of the report, Sakai had a surprise up his sleeve: Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode 2 is currently being developed. Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode 2 will add a new story among other features, which will be revealed closer to launch. Also, be sure to grab your nearest translator, because on April 9th, a teaser clip will be view-able via a live Nico Nico broadcast from the land of the rising sun!
After this exciting tidbit of news, and Japan practically selling through all of the original shipment of physical copies of Phantasy Star Online 2, methinks a world wide PlayStation Vita release may not be too much of a long shot after all.
