We’re a few weeks into January, but the Wii U is finally getting a couple new games. Not only did we get Double Fine’s newest downloadable title The Cave ($14.99), but we also got the first Virtual Console game to arrive onto the Wii U eShop. Before the Virtual Console fully launches later this year, Nintendo will be releasing one new Virtual Console title per month for 30 cents a piece. This month’s game is Balloon Fight for the NES. We also get the digital version of Funky Barn ($49.99).
The 3DS doesn’t have a whole lot in the way of content this week. There’s a demo for the upcoming Brain Age: Concentration Training available now. In addition, we also have Cocoto Alien Brick Breaker ($4.99), the digital version of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars ($29.99) and Super C for the NES ($4.99) as this week’s Virtual Console title. Nothing for DSiWare this week.

After you create your land, develop it into the craziest, most offbeat farm imaginable, overflowing with the wackiest contraptions and goofiest gizmos you and your animals have ever seen. Funky Barn is available in the Nintendo eShop on Wii U and at retail stores.

Brain Age™: Concentration Training Demo Version – Brain Age is back with new devilishly difficult brain-training exercises designed by world-famous brain researcher Dr. Ryuta Kawashima. Brain Age: Concentration Training introduces newly designed training exercises that challenge players with activities to help improve their concentration skills and the ability to access their short-term memory. Players only need to spend five minutes a day with the game to try and better their focus and attention skills. The full version of Brain Age: Concentration Training will be available in the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS and at retail stores on Feb. 10.

In addition to video games available at retail stores, Nintendo also offers a variety of content that people can download directly to their systems. Nintendo adds new titles weekly to the Nintendo eShop for the Wii U system as well as the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL systems, to the Nintendo DSi™ Shop for the Nintendo DSi system and to the Wii™ Shop Channel for the Wii console.
The Nintendo eShop is a cash-based service and features games, applications and videos. Users can add money to their account balance by using a credit card or by purchasing a Nintendo Prepaid Card at a retail store and entering the code from the card. All funds from one card must be redeemed in either the Wii U eShop or the Nintendo 3DS eShop, respectively. They are not transferable and cannot be divided between the two systems.
The Wii Shop Channel offers games and applications and uses Wii Points, which can be purchased via the Wii Shop Channel. The Nintendo DSi Shop offers games and applications and uses Nintendo DSi Points™, which can be purchased in the Nintendo DSi Shop. A Wii Points Card™ and Nintendo DSi Points Card™ can be purchased at retail locations. All points from one card must be redeemed in either the Wii Shop Channel or the Nintendo DSi Shop, respectively. They are not transferable and cannot be divided between the two systems.
