In a new trailer release by Komi Games over on there YouTube page they’ve announced the addition of two new fighters to their indie arena fighter currently in Steam Early Access, Mighty Fight Federation. The two character in question are of course Kunio and Riki of the Kunio-kun series of beat em’ ups and the occasional sports title.
Perhaps best known in the west for the NES title, River City Ransom (Downtown Nekketsu Story), Kuino-kun is a long running series dating back to the arcade title, Renegade (Nekketsu Kona Kunio-kun) in 1986. Kunio and Riki are reoccurring protagonists from the Kunio-kun games, being the main characters in several of them, including the previously mentioned River City Ransom where the plot revolved around saving Riki’s girlfriend from a gang of thugs. The series continues to this day with recent releases like River City Girls and Stay Cool, Kobayashi-san! A River City Ransom Story.
Kunio and Riki join previously announced guest cheaters in Mighty Fight Federation, such as ToeJam & Earl and Yooka-Laylee from, well, ToeJam & Earl and Yooka-Laylee.
You can pick up Mighty Fight Federation right now on Steam. Keep in mind, as previously noted, the game is currently in Early Access.
