Hello everyone! I’m Michael, and I’m taking over the Nintendo Download series for Josh, who is leaving oprainfall soon. You may notice this particular Nintendo Download article is a little bit late, as I’m preparing to take over. In the future, my plan is to get these articles out on Thursdays still. However, they will come out sometime in the evenings rather than earlier in the day due to my work schedule. I hope that’s not too much of an issue for anyone, and feel free to give me suggestions in the comments for things I could do better! So without further ado, we have five featured titles to jump into today!

oprainfall | Crystal Chronicles HD Edition
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition.

For me, the most exciting featured title today is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition. The original game was a gem of the Gamecube era. The remastered version of the RPG brings back the epic adventure of the Crystal Caravans, as they search for a rare liquid called myrrh. It is needed to maintain and cleanse a crucial crystal whose protective field holds back a deadly gas known as miasma. If the crystal fails, the toxic gas will flood into their homelands! Use items and powerful magic spells to take down the deadly monsters that stand in your way. The remaster has online multiplayer where you can team up in caravans of up to four players, and new areas added in dungeons. Best of all, you can get it for just $29.99! There is also challenging new post-game content.

Next up, we have Windbound. After being thrown from your boat, you now have no food, no tools, and no boat. It’s up to you to utilize the environment around you to get resources, craft tools, and most importantly, survive! You’ll also uncover the island’s mysterious secrets along the way. Jump Force – Deluxe Edition throws famous manga heroes into an epic battle in our world. Together, they must bear the fate of humankind. Meanwhile, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions Month 1 Edition sees the worlds of anime and soccer crash together. Based on the anime series, it follows the exploits of Tsubasa Ozora. The game features two story modes. One lets you experience the events from the anime, while the other is an original story mode. Finally, Best Friend Forever, is a game that combines dating and pet care in Rainbow Bay. Train and play with your virtual dog, and find true love in the bay’s bustling singles scene.

It adds a whopping 39 new songs and remixes for the price of $5.99. There are other previous DLCs available as well.

As far as eShop sales are concerned, this week has a number of them. The Share the Fun Sale includes discounts on games for both the Switch and 3DS. You can find slashed prices on titles like spooky adventure Luigi’s Mansion 3 ($41.99), platformer/puzzle adventure Unravel 2 ($4.99), action adventure Castle Crashers ($8.99), brawler ARMS ($41.99), platformer fighter Shovel Knight Showdown ($6.99), and more. If you want a stiffer challenge, there is cartoon platformer Cuphead ($15.99), “tough as nails” platformer Super Meat Boy ($7.49), and arcade action game, Sky Racket. This sale includes titles like gorgeous action platformer Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition ($13.99). There’s also bullet hell dungeon crawler, Enter the Gungeon ($7.49) and the spinoff Exit The Gungeon ($6.99). For a bigger challenge, there is action platformer Dead Cells ($14.99). If you want a more unusual experience, puzzle adventure Manifold Guarden ($17.99) may have you covered, with its Escher-esque world full of impossible architecture! Another more unusual and cute creative game on sale is Takeshi and Hiroshi ($8.09), where 14-year-old Takeshi (a game designer to be) hones his skill while creating a game bit by bit for his little brother, Hiroshi. All the while, he needs to make sure young Hiroshi enjoys the game every step of the way. There’s also puzzle platforming adventure, Evergate ($16.99). Additionally, you could also escape from a crazy dream where everything is just as it seems, in first-person puzzle adventure Superliminal ($16.00).

Other titles added to the eShop this week include action platformer Collapsed, strategic rogue-lite Deadly Days, and arcade action adventure West of Dead, among others.

For next week’s Nintendo Download, they have a handful of titles coming that you may want to watch for. First, there is puzzle adventure Mask of Mists ($11.99). You take on the role of a mercenary tasked with finding a missing person in an adventure full of magic, ancient ruins, abandoned houses, and mysterious caves. Ary and the Secret of Seasons ($39.99) follows a young girl named Aryelle on a great journey in the world of Valdi. She becomes the Guardian of Winter, and is able to manipulate the seasons around her! If you’re up for some off-road racing, there is MX vs ATV All Out ($39.99), where you can choose between ATVs, UTVs, and bikes, refine your rider style at your compound, and race across huge open worlds in multiple game modes. Finally, if you’re a cat lover, we have cartoony arcade puzzle adventure Piffle: A Cat Puzzle Adventure ($13.96). The game sees you collect and craft a ton of cute Piffle Balls to help you clear out challenging blocks and obstacles in hundreds of levels.

Michael Fontanini
Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
