If you’ve ever wanted to snag one of Valve’s Steam Link devices at a cheap price, it appears that it’s now or never. A post from Sam Lantinga (a Valve senior software engineer) under the list of recent updates on the device’s Steam page explains that its physical supply is almost completely sold out. He goes on to explain that Valve will continue to support the existing install base for the device as well as update the accompanying software for some time (e.g. the Steam Link App).
While not directly stated, it would appear that production for the Steam Link will be discontinued (at least for the time being). The post makes no mention of the Steam Controllers, so those do not appear to be a part of this. For those in Europe, the supply of hardware has already sold out, but if you reside in the US you still have a shot at picking one up. The Steam Link has been marked down to just $2.50 USD. If you buy it bundled with a Steam Controller, the total is just $35.61 USD. Both of these deals can be found on the Link’s official steam page. It’s also worth mentioning that these markdowns are only in effect through November 27th, 2018. If you end up taking advantage of the discounts or have any thoughts on this development, let us know in the comments below.
