Last week Nintendo announced two new Pokémon games coming out for the Switch: Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go Eevee! They revealed a lot of new information on the upcoming games, however details regarding it’s online functionality were fairly scant. It was in fact initially reported that the Let’s Go games would not have online features of any sort, however recent statements from The Pokémon Company are now saying otherwise.
In a statement given to Game Informer, The Pokémon Company states that while features common in past games likes the GTS, Wonder Trade and Battle Spot will not be part of the Let’s Go experience, the games will in fact feature both online and offline multiplayer functions such as trading and battling. Just that these activities can only be done with people on your friends list and will require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
There will be more details to come, but this is all we know for now. Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s go Eevee! will be available for the Nintendo Switch on November 16th, 2018, and will cost $59.99 USD.
