The originalĀ Date A LiveĀ light novels are written by Koushi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako. The series began publication in March 2011. The series is published under Fujimi Shobo’s Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. The 17th volume was the latest volume released for the series.
Date A LiveĀ has inspired two previous TV anime adaptations as well as a theatrical anime film. The first season was produced by AIC Plus+ and aired in 2013 for 12 episodes and received an additional OVA later on. The second season aired in 2014 and was produced by Production IMS. This season aired in 2014 for 10 episodes and received an additional OVA. The animated film was produced by Production IMS as well and was released in 2015.
Funimation licensed both seasons of theĀ Date A LiveĀ anime and streamed both as they aired in Japan.

Funimation released both seasons on Blu-ray and DVD, the first season in 2014 and the second season in 2016.
