Who says the 3DS is dead? Certainly not Nintendo, which focused the first portion of their Direct today on upcoming games for the system. While there was the expected mentions, such as new info about Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, there were some very quirky games also announced.
First up is a brand spanking new entry in the Pikmin series called Hey! Pikmin. The big difference? This one is two dimensional! Which might not sound like a big deal to some of you, but I’m very excited about it. As one of the folks who loved when Chibi-Robo! transitioned from 3D to 2D, I’m very excited to try out Hey! Pikmin. Especially since it is getting a sexy new amiibo and releasing July 28th of this year!
The other quirky new game making its way to 3DS this year is called Culdcept Revolt. Though I’ve never played other entries in the series, it looks compelling. Slated to release August 29th, it looks like a mix between a tactical RPG and a deck building game. Which is amazing sounding! I love both those genres, and this one looks ready to please fans of hardcore strategy games.
