This is another very short and sweet Nintendo Download, but the upside is there are some great games to mention this time, including one new release that brings back fond memories from the heyday of Rare. Besides that, there are also the usual sales, Themes and other new goodies to mention. So, let’s stop blabbing and get to the games!
First up is an exciting new IP called Snake Pass. Described as a “physics-based puzzle platform game”, it looks to have the same spirit as games such as Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country. Developed by independent studio Sumo Digital, Snake Pass looks quite compelling, and is coming out to a variety of consoles. Better yet, it has music produced by none other than the great David Wise, known for making his mark on several Rare classics. If you’re not convinced though, stay tuned later when our review of Snake Pass goes live!
On the retro side of things, the Wii U continues to get life support in the form of Virtual Console releases. This week, the shot in the arm is none other than Pikmin 2! Travel through strange new worlds with Olimar and Louie, and use your Pikmin minions to help you survive. If you missed out on this Wii classic back in the day, you owe it to yourself to check it on now on Wii U.
Unlike last week, there are actually some great sales and savings to be had this week. Keeping in mind that these sales are all for 3DS or Wii U, here are the games. First, the following titles are on sale for Wii U: Runbow is discounted from $14.99 to $7.49; Swap Fire is completely free now, and though I don’t know much about it, it’s hard to argue with that price point; the fantastic SteamWorld Heist and Severed are both discounted from $14.99 to $7.49; and SteamWorld Dig is discounted from $9.99 to $3.99.
For 3DS games, I recommend the following: Punch Club is discounted from $9.99 to $6.99; Fairune 2 is discounted from $6.99 to $5.59; Polara is discounted from $5 to $3.49; The Legend of Legacy is discounted from $39.99 to $29.99 and Retro City Rampage: DX is discounted from $9.99 to $4.99. Overall much better than last week. If you want to see all the games on sale, just click here. And if you’re in it for Themes, there are several Runbow based themes for your 3DS this week.
Last but not least, there are some great new digital releases for the eShop. If you own a Switch, you should check out ACA NEOGEO METAL SLUG; for the casual puzzle fan, you can look at SubaraCity for 3DS; for the RPG fan, give a look at the chibified Brave Dungeon or check out the demo for Mercernaries Saga 3; and if you want to dust off your Wii U, perhaps check out Miko Mole.
Not bad for a slow week, right? Stay tuned to oprainfall for more Nintendo Download goodies next time, and let us know what Nintendo games have you excited!
