If you haven’t been hiding under a rock for the past 15 years or so, you’ve probably heard of the Japanese card game phenomenon called Yu-Gi-Oh! This series took the TCG market by storm when it came West, and it has even overwhelmed the Magic the Gathering market of late. Published by Konami, who in the past was more well known for their videogames than their card games, Yu-Gi-Oh! has easily become their biggest focus in the last decade or so. It has a wide presence in television, video games and even movies.

Speaking of which, there is actually a new Yu-Gi-Oh! movie headed our way this January 20th, called Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions. Made with the collaboration between Screenvision Media and 4K Media, this movie will feature classic characters Yugi Moto (VA by Dan Green) and Seto Kaiba (VA by Eric Stuart) set against a mysterious new villain.

This limited theatrical release will only be available to watch in a few hundred theaters, which may or may not help garner it attention. In Japan, the movie netted around 800 million yen, so it should be interesting to see how it fares in our Western markets. Undoubtedly Dark Side of Dimensions will usher us in a new round of Yu-Gi-Oh! merchandise frenzy, including the inevitable video games.

Stay tuned to oprainfall for more anime and videogame news as it hits, and let us know if you’re excited for this latest Yu-Gi-Oh! movie!
