It has been announced that Funimation will be streaming the anime of Planetarian. Other than that though, nothing else was really revealed. The announcement did not specify if Funimation will stream the film, the net anime, or both. No date for when they plan on streaming has was given either. The net anime, Planetarian: Chiisana Hoshi no Yume will be five episodes long and will begin July 7. The film Planetarian: Hoshi no Hito will premiere September 3. The film will be a sort of an epilogue and will follow what happened after the visual novel’s end.
If you are unfamiliar with the story here’s Funimation’s description:
For thirty years, companion robot Hoshino Yumemi has patiently waited to show someone the stars. Left in an abandoned planetarium, she sits hoping for customers that will never show. That is, until a Junker– a plunderer of goods and artifacts from the ruins of civilization—stumbles upon the crumbling establishment. Will he help her repair the planetarium, or will she be alone once more?
Planetarian ~the reverie of a little planet~ is available on iOS and Steam. You can check out our review of the visual novel.
