Nintendo has had quite a few surprising collaborations over the last few years: Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem, Squid Girl and Splatoon, even Super Smash Bros. and Final Fantasy VII. This latest one, however, may be one of the most bizarre. Chitoge Nisekoi, lead character from the Nisekoi anime and manga series, is the newest guest character in Super Mario Maker. By completing one of the two new event courses made by the manga’s creator, Naoshi Komi, you will be able to unlock Nisekoi’s mystery mushroom costume.
It’s certainly an interesting inclusion given the character has no real connection to video games, but it’s still a cool costume. One has to wonder what other non-gaming characters may be bound for Nintendo’s do-it-yourself platformer.
