Funimation Entertainment has announced that they will launch a new subscription based streaming service in February 2016. The streaming service is titled FunimationNow. The service will come with many Funimation licensed anime all with English subs and (if available) English dubs. FunimationNow will stream the anime completely ad-free and will have a new design when compared to the previous Funimation app. Some shows that will be featured include Attack on Titan, Cowboy Bebop, and Fairy Tail. Funimation will also simulcast brand new shows on the service such as Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash and Dimension W.
FunimationNow will launch in February 2016 in not only the US and Canada but will also be launching in the UK. Along with the streaming service launch, a redesigned mobile app will be launched around the same time. The Funimation apps for the iOS, Android and Kindle will be updated to reflect this change. A brand new app will also be released for Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV. An app for Windows 10 Universal will also be released.
The Funimation console apps will be updated in May to accommodate FunimationNow. Along with the console updates, they will also launch a redesigned website.
Funimation has partnered with Sony DADC New Media Solutions so that they could utilize their Ven.ue platform to create FunimationNow.
Funimation is currently offering a 30-day free trial for new subscribers to the streaming service. If you sign up for the trial now, you can experience FunimationNow for free for 30 days when it launches in February. Current subscribers to their streaming service will not have to purchase a new subscription. Their subscription will carry over once FunimationNow launches. So if you’re a current subscriber you can experience FunimationNow as soon as it launches in February without having to do anything else.
FunimationNow will be available on iOS, Android, Kindle, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Windows 10 Universal in February. The current Funimation app is available on iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, Roku, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
