Toonami took to their Tumblr page this afternoon to announce that Samurai Jack will be getting a new season in 2016. The studio had this to say:
Adult Swim is excited to announce that JACK IS BACK. Creator and executive producer Genndy Tartakovsky continues the epic story of Samurai Jack with a new season of episodes that will premiere on Adult Swim’s Toonami block in 2016.
The new season is currently in production in Los Angeles at Cartoon Network Studios.
Samurai Jack first aired from 2001 to 2004 with 56 episodes. This exciting American-made anime-style cartoon tells the story of a boy-turned-samurai with a mission to defeat an evil demon, Aku. Before Jack could deliver the final blow he was sent into a time portal to an altered future. The series follows his adventures to defeat Aku and get back to the past.
