Level-5 has been on a role with their news recently. First was the exciting reveal that the Yo-Kai Watch franchise would be coming west (manga announcements first, then the video games). Then there was the not-quite-as-exciting news of Fantasy Life 2 being a mobile game. But then there was the reveal of Yo-Kai Watch 3 coming out in Japan. And now, it has been topped off with the reveal of a new cross-media project, The Snack World.
The Snack World is the fourth cross-media project by Level-5, joining the likes of Yo-Kai Watch, Inazuma Eleven, and The Little Battlers eXperience. Takara Tomy will handle toy production while Coro Coro Comic will run the manga. A CGI anime will also release in the future.
As for what it is, The Snack World is based in a fantasy land that features a number of modern aspects, such as convenience stores and smartphones. The main characters are named Chup, Mayone, and Peperon, which are puns on condiments. In the reveal trailer, our heroes were sent on a mission by the King — who was heavily influenced by his daughter Princess Melora — to get a gem from Medusa. On your way, you can use real world toys called Jara, which contain an NFC chip, giving you that item in the game. Equipment in-game will also have a number of fashion brands you can choose from.
And from the looks of things, since this does have an English dubbed trailer, this will be coming West. Check it out.
The Snack World video game will be coming to Nintendo 3DS, iOS, and Android. No word on any release windows for any region.
